The house stands in a quiet mountain village in the former Satomi area of Hitachiota, northern Ibaraki. Public transport is very limited here, so we strongly recommend coming by car.

By car
About 2–3 hours from Tokyo via the Joban Expressway. In winter the roads can freeze, so allow plenty of time and check that your rental car has winter tyres.
By train
Take the JR Joban Line from Tokyo, Ueno or Shinagawa to Mito, then change to the JR Suigun Line. Trains are infrequent and the house is a long way from the nearest station, so the easiest option is to rent a car at Mito Station and drive the rest of the way. If you plan to come by train and taxi, please email us your arrival time first.
